Maintains trailer/vehicle equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting trailer/vehicle deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments, keeping neat and accurate records on designated paperwork and software programs. Reports to the lead mechanic or on-duty manager.  We will train you for specific job requirements.

Job Requirements:

· Appropriate tool inventory
· Good customer and peer relationship and communication skills
· Maintains professional appearance and wears appropriate shop uniforms.
· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record recommended.
· MSDS training
· Man-lift training
· Shop Safety Training
· Torch safety with basic welding and cutting skills
· Tire safety training
· Forklift training certificate
· Fire Safety training
· Complies with all site specific rules, procedures, and duties.
· Keeps shop and work area clean and safe
· Proficient in performing all PMs on trailers and lift gates and documenting the information correctly
· Certified to perform all DOT annual inspections on trailers and completing the proper documentation
· Has a CDL A with air brake designation recommended
· ABS training
· Federal air brake certification
· Skilled in tire maintenance and tread wear analysis
· Proficient in basic electrical system repairs
· Proficient at welding in all appropriate disciplines
· Demonstrates a good capacity for diagnostic skills
· Proficient in diagnosing and performing trailer alignments
· All other requirements as assigned.

Job Duties:

· Determines trailer/vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifies worn and damaged parts.
· Keeps trailer equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules.
· Correctly installs new components and part upgrades.
· Corrects trailer/vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, electrical, brake, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; makes adjustments and alignments.
· Verifies trailer/vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
· Complies with federal and state trailer/vehicle requirements by testing all mechanicals for safety standards.
· Maintains trailer/vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting when necessary.
· Maintains trailer/vehicle records by legibly, neatly and correctly annotating services and repairs on the expected paperwork and software programs.
· Accurately records all part numbers on work orders through submitted paperwork and in the designated software programs.
· Keeps shop equipment operating by following correct operating instructions; troubleshoots breakdowns; maintains supplies; performs preventive maintenance; and calls for assistance if needed.
· Contains costs by using warranties; consults with our parts department and evaluates service and parts options.
· Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; communicates effectively with parts department; places orders when necessary and verifies receipt with the parts department.
· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reads technical and regulation publications.
· Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explores opportunities to add value to personal job accomplishments.
· A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
